Michelle Guerrero, an Atwater, California (Atwater High School) native. She was an outstanding high school player before being recruited as a pitcher to attend Kentucky State University in 2002 by the legendary coach, Oscar Downs.

Ms. Guerrero came to KSU and immediately made an impact to the softball program. Her accomplishments during her four-year career were second to none as she holds many Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and KSU school records.

As a starting pitcher, Ms. Guerrero has the best overall winning percentage in KSU history. She compelled 68 wins – 26 loss record, for a .723 percentage. Her yearly records were: 22 – 10 as a freshman; 19 – 7 as a sophomore; 17 – 6 as a junior; and 10 – 3 as a senior.

Ms. Guerrero is listed in the top ten, in KSU softball categories. She is ranked 1st, 3rd, and 4th in number of wins per season. She was ranked 1st (1.14) in 2005 and 3rd (2.15) in 2004 regarding her ERA.

Ms. Guerrero pitched more innings than any other pitcher in KSU History. She is rank 2nd (168 inning), 2003; 4th (152.2 inning), 2004; and 5th (141 inning), 2005. Ms. Guerrero also is listed in KSU top ten for yearly strikeouts, three times. She is number one on the list with 169 strikeouts in 2003. Also, 6th with 137 strikeouts in 2005 and 9th with 121 strikeouts in 2004.

In Ms. Guerrero 4 years as a starting pitcher, she has a total of 21 Shutouts. Over double to the next closest pitcher. In her senior year, she scored 45 runs as a hitter. She was an all-around softball player during her tenure at KSU.

Ms. Guerrero accomplishments earned her many athletic honors. She was a member of the two-time SIAC Softball Conference Champion and made the NCAA Division II Softball Championship appearances, in 2003 and 2006. She earned All-SIAC First Team honors in 2004 and 2005. In 2003, she earned the Most Valuable Player award in the SIAC Softball Tournament. She won the SIAC Softball Tournament, Pitching Award and was the SIAC All-Tournament Team in 2006.

During Ms. Guerrero career, the team had a .738 winning percentage. The team compiled a record of 99 wins and 35 losses.

Ms. Guerrero earned six athletic letters in softball (4) and Volleyball (2) at KSU. She was awarded by KSU the Best Pitcher Award on three occasions, 2003, 2004 and 2005. In 2006, KSU awarded her with Golden Glove.

Ms. Guerrero was Academic All-SIAC Conference in Softball in each of her four years at KSU and in Volleyball in 2002 and 2004.
